A fast-growing and dynamic large microfinance institution is seeking to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Communications and PR Manager based in Nairobi
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic communications and public relations plans to enhance the organization’s brand image and reputation.
- Manage media relations, including building relationships, drafting press releases, and organizing press conferences when necessary

- Help clarify their organization’s point of view to its main audience through media press releases and interviews
- Proactively identify opportunities for media coverage and position the messaging accordingly.
- Develop and implement compelling content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, and social media posts.
- Monitor media coverage and public opinion, providing timely reports and analysis to senior management.
- Handle crisis communication efforts and manage issues that may arise through a consistent and effective response.
- Conduct regular assessments of communication effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
- Manage the organization’s corporate social responsibility initiatives and external partnerships.
- Support senior management in developing and delivering strategic messages and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in communications or public relations, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing media relations and securing positive media coverage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management systems.
- Requires deep understanding of dynamic financial service sector market and microfinance industry.”
